Summary: This article presents the foundations of New Christianity.

The American forefathers were very successful in developing a blue print for a democratic Government, but their success in developing New Christianity was very limited.

The author of this article is a devout Hindu, and Hinduism seeded many religions like Buddhism, Jainism, etc. The author had no intention in writing, on this controversial topic, but after long deliberations (and prodding), thought that it would be nice to see Christianity flourish, along with other religions.

Spiritual bliss gives the contentment in human life. It is generally believed, that the voidness that may arise due to lack of spirituality, cannot be filled by material comforts.

Most people believe Jesus of Nazareth also known as Jesus Christ, established a new religion called Christianity, but all of them are absolutely wrong.

Moses established the social norms and defined a social structure called “Judaism”. Moses defined rules for Rabbi’s and established priesthood. The Mosaic laws were defined for both masses as well as priests.

Jesus of Nazareth attempted to refine the priesthood. The discourses of Jesus broadly contain norms for priests. In other words, Jesus never defined social norms or social structure like Moses for the masses.

Jesus did not really care to define a social structure or rules, and merely said in passing that the Commandments of Moses are important. It may be noted that Jesus tacitly assumed a society and the laws of Moses.

Jesus was crucified at a very young age of about 33 years, and on the contrary Moses lived to ripe old age. Jesus may not have had the opportunity to define a complete religion.

Jesus was crucified because the priests (rabbi’s) did not like changes to their laws or rules.

Christianity became a religion long after the death of Jesus, and the early and medieval Christianity were supplemented by rules created by the Church.

Modern republics absorbed the powers of Church, for defining social rules, and the Churches as well as spirituality, lost their past glory.

President Jefferson was absolutely right in separating state and church. He struggled until his death, in establishing a great foundation for “The New Christianity”.

The crux of the article attempts to carry forward President Jefferson’s cherished idea or plan.

  1. The word Christ means “Son of God”, and serves like a title. Jesus of Nazareth may be regarded as the First Christ.

  2. The teachings of Jesus may be summarized as:
“Faith and Spirituality are essential components of human endeavour”.

This may be regarded as the First law/commandment of Spirituality New Christianity.

  3. God must be an abstraction, which can be appreciated by any human being. The abstraction should not be bound to any race, sect, colour, gender, region, etc.

  4. The New Christianity need not pin itself entirely in one person or book, for all of its teachings, but can be open ended.

  5. The non-physical laws and rules of Nature and Nature’s God, must be defined in meta physics. These in turn should serve as basis or foundation for spiritual norms.

  6. The underpinnings of spirituality, must be verifiable and agreeable, both by law makers and spiritual teachers.

  7. Hinduism and Judaism were developed by many sages/prophets over thousands of years.

The New Christianity should allow scope for advancement by second Christ, third Christ etc.

Remarks:
The author believes that Christianity was not averse to the idea of the second coming of Christ.
